International CES (Consumer Electronic Show) is a well-recognized electronics and technology trade show which attracts large companies and professionals worldwide. The annual show is held each January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. (You who was looking for the Apple booth, the U.S. device maker always feel present but never attends at the fair.) CES is among the biggest things that happen every year for us interested in tech, it presents a variety of innovative electronics and technology at the show and it's no exception this year. It can be difficult to keep updated on all new products coming and you do not want to miss anything cool. Of the large amount of things that were presented have I selected the best products from the fair. Unfortunately, there are many privately-held companies that you can't invest in but it's important to keep yourself updated with all the new technology. It's constantly acquisitions among the tech companies and in recent times the pace has increased enormously. You will be impressed by the products presented at CES 2015, below you will see the best products this year.
The Dash
The Dash is the first truly wireless earbuds, but they are more than just earbuds. The earbuds are touch-enabled, have fitness sensors and a built-in accelerometer you can use to do different gestures. The earbuds are meant to be an assistant, if someone calls, you can nod to answer or reject the call and by tilting your head up a voice read out the weather forecast for you. These earbuds have really impressed me, The Dash is my favorite product from CES 2015. They are manufactured by Bragi and the company will ship the earbuds in April and they will cost $299. They are not cheap, but I will definitely buy them. More info: www.bragi.com
Airdog
Airdog is a quadcopter (or as everyone calls it, a drone) that can follow you everywhere. The drone automatically tracks your movements so that it can follow you and unlike many other drones The Airdog don't have a large remote control. Instead, you get an AirLeash, which basically is an armband with a small box with a control pad on it. Briefly, it's very simple to use and can create amazing pictures and videos with flyover view. The Airdog is available to preorder for $1,295 and is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2015. A Flying Camera That can follow you anywhere is the next evolution for consumer drones. IO Hawk
The IO Hawk is a high-tech combination between a skateboard and a Segway that has received some attention at CES. It's like a Segway but without the handlebars, so you use your balance and weight to control it. It goes when you lean forward or backward, and it can go up to 6 mph. One charge will get you 10 to 12 miles of ride time. The IO Hawk is not anything revolutionary but a cool thing. Anyone who has tried it seems to think it's really fun to use, it's available to buy for $1,800. More info: www.iohawk.com
iRobot Ava 500
Ava 500 is a telepresence robot which allows executives to immediately create a physical presence in an office, event, data center, factory or other location with complete freedom of movement. This creates many opportunities for businesses. Ava 500 is manufactured by iRobot Corporation, which is a very interesting company. Most people probably recognize their autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner; Roomba, which was introduced in 2002. iRobot is well-positioned for the future robot revolution, however, I believe that the stock (NASDAQ: IRBT) currently is overvalued. But it's a company that is interesting to follow and I will talk more about iRobot in future posts. More info: www.irobot.com
WattUp
The company Energous Corporation unveiled their latest product WattUp. A Bluetooth and radio frequency transmitter that uses the same radio frequency as a Wi-Fi router transports "intelligent, scalable power" and can charge for example smartphones and tablets wireless. A WattUp transmitter can handle 12 devices simultaneously and the range is up to 15 feet from the transmitter. This technology is truly amazing and it will be nice to get rid of all the wires in the future. More info: www.energous.com
SenseHud
SenseHud is a heads-up display (HUD) which makes it possible for the driver to stay connected while at the same time being able to pay attention to the road. Through the combination of a mounting system and a mobile app, SenseHud shows information such as speed, phone calls and other important information while providing the ability to see the road. This technology is something I think will be integrated into many cars in the future because it's convenient and, above all, safer. The product is manufactured by Sense Driver Technologies and will begin shipping in early 2015 for $99. More info: www.sensedriver.com
Storedot
The Israeli nanotech startup company Storedot has developed a new type of battery charger that can charge a smartphone in under 1 minute and an electric car under 3 minutes. Exactly how fast it charges a lithium-ion battery is not certain, but it goes incredibly fast. This could change the entire tech industry. They are now talking with automakers and I know that Tesla would be interested in this technology. We will see if this technology ends up in Tesla's supercharger stations in the future.
